Wine Cabinets

A "wine cabinet" is another name for a free standing wine cellar. Rather than occupying an entire room, wine cabinets are compact storage units that can be placed anywhere in the home.

Wine cabinets come in many sizes and shapes. Some are modern, sleek styles such as the EuroCave. Others are made from fine wood and resemble furniture. Other cabinets are even small enough to fit on a counter top, or be built into the kitchen cabinetry.

Wine cabinets are most always refrigerated units. They are made to store wine at its optimum temperature until ready for serving.

There are many reasons why a wine enthusiast would choose a wine cabinet cellar over a room size cellar.

Many home owners do not have a basement, or a spare room that could be converted into a cellar. Other wine enthusiasts have a number of bottles in the collection that would fit well into a cabinet, so the larger room is not needed.

The portable nature of wine cabinets make them very convenient. When the owner moves, the cabinet is easily transported to the new location. When the collection grows and a larger cabinet is needed, the smaller cabinet can be resold or placed in another room.

Wine cabinets also come with built in cooling systems, so additional purchases or installations are not necessary. The wine cabinet is a plug and go system, all that is needed is a standard household outlet. No custom building or costly construction work is needed, as would be when building a cellar room or converting a basement.

Wine continues to develop in the bottle, and if not kept at proper temperature, it could spoil, or at the very least lose the optimal flavor. So even for a small amount of bottles, the wine cabinet will keep the wine in perfect condition until ready to serve.
